Recently got a hold of an Optiplex 990. Saw a few threads here regarding this model but no guide or bootpack in any of them, so I decided to write one up. An easy build as mentioned by Dan Marshall, runs really smooth. It comes with an AMD HD5450, didn't try the built-in Intel HD2000. Credits: Conti - for myHack Slice - latest VoodooHDA 2.8.6 Dr. Hurt from Insanelymac - patch DSDT for HD5450M Specs: i5 - 2400 3.1GHz | 8GB ram | HD2000/AMD HD 5450M | 128GB SSD | Mountion Lion 10.8.5 | Mavericks 10.9.4 | BIOS A18 Build USB Installer with myHack Download and Extract bootpackExtra.zip Relaunch myHack, select Install Extra, select USB Installer as target drive. Select "Use my Own" and browse to Extra above Boot with USB Installer ( Make sure to plug monitor to DVI, vga is not supported) Format disk to GUID and Extended Journal and start the build When prompt, select "Use My Own" and point to Extra on USB Installer When prompt to remove problematic kexts, select Yes, Yes, No Wait a few minutes, system will automatically reboot, remove the USB Installer Complete the installation Done. Working: AMD HD 5450 Full QE/CI Dual Display Sleep/Shutdown/Restart LAN Audio using VoodooHDA 2.8.6 Note: Make sure to set SATA Operation to AHCI. For best result, set it to the Default, apply and then set SATA Operation to AHCI. /!\ For Mountain Lion install, remove AppleKextExcludeList.kext from bootpack /!\ For Yosemite Install, see guide here and boot pack posted here

Complete Guide to Install mavericks on my dell 3521 i3?
Jake Lo replied to light's topic in The Archive
Have you tried this guide by Pokenguyen? -
After replacing with NullCPUPowerManagement, did you run myfix before trying again?
-
what error do you get if you don't boot with -v?
-
There should be an SSDT for i7-2760QM in the boot pack for E6520 Optimus, inside SSDT folder. Rename it to SSDT.aml. If that still won't work, remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and replace it with NullCPUPowerManage.kext. This should get the installation started. If you want to disable Optimus and use the Nvidia card, see this guide.

You must've missed step 16 to add to the path to the patches. 16. Run MacIASL in Tools folder on desktop, open DSDT.dsl in DSDT folder by MacIASL - Go to Preferences, set Compiler options to ACPI 5.0 - Go to Sources tab then add this: Name: Laptop patches URL: http://raw.github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch/master Once that's done, when you select Patch, the patches will show on the left side. This would mean you have to be connected to the network.
-
You should enable speed stepping
-
/Extra/ssdt.aml is located on the root of your Installed OSX when you ran step 11 to generate SSDT using HVT. Reboot with your USB from step 4, and continue from step 14
-
See guide here. Check the updates below it for newer versions of files and patches. 1) launch dvd player, click help-> show supported features. You should see Quartz Extreme is 2) IDT 92HD93xx 3) HDMI audio enabled with patched FB, DSDT, and AppleHDA

Sorry, no new development. You can read more about it here.

Did you set bios setting for SATA Operation to AHCI? -
Rebuild your cache

Do you have a patched mach_kernel for 10.9.4? If not grab it from my previous link above. Replace the one on your root. You might have to unhide it first.
-
You probably running Mavericks 10.9.4 with resolution 1920x1080. Same thing for my E7440 with HD4400. See here. Fix: Go to display profile and change it to sRGB.
-
there's a guide already for this model here. Did you have everything working with your boot files?
-
No I haven't. Haven't touched the 9020 for awhile now. I'll try it next week and let you know what I come up with.

E5520 Bootpack problems with Intel HD 3000 HD @ 1920X1080
Jake Lo replied to derikke's topic in The Archive
Yup still around. In order for enable HDMI Audio, you'll need to patch FB, DSDT and AppleHDA. You can read more about it here to patch FB and DSDT, but you could download the patched AppleHDA here. -
See here for the latest patched AppleHDA for Exx20 models. Need to add HDAEnabler to o.c.b.p
-
ktbos, Since you just download Mavericks Thursday, it must be 10.9.4. You'll need to change the modded mach_kernel. Get it here and place in Extra of your USB Installer.

Please list your system specs so we could help proceed. CPU? HD 3000 or nvs4200m? Resolution?
-
What's your system spec? Do you have Optimus Nvidia Nvs4200m? see this. Or only HD 3000? See this.
