  1. Friends'm installing OS X El Capitan, download the installer again, prepare the USB over and over again, tried many "boot flags" but during installation 16 minutes after me out this error: "An error occurred while extracting files from the package "Essentials.pkg" is no longer what else to do if anyone knows of this error please let me know how I can fix. Thank you I have a laptop Asus VivoBook S451LA-CA158H Asus Vivo Book S451LA-CA158H Display: 14 "screen (1366 x 768) Processor: Intel® Core ™ i5-4210U 1.7 GHz dual-core Memory: 4GB DDR3 Storage: 750GB HDD Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4400 (onboard) I leave a screenshot of the error
  2. Hello, I've been attempting to get El Capitan installed on my Latitude E7450, and am moments away from just setting it on fire and moving on with life. I have (repeatedly) followed the steps as posted in these two threads: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8514-dell-latitude-e7450-el-capitan-clover-uefi-only/ https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8506-dell-latitude-inspiron-el-capitan-clover-guide/ The main differences from my machine and the one in the guide linked above, are: Processor: Intel® Core i5-5300U CPU @ 2.30GHz Memory: 1x 8GB DDR3L 1600 MHz DIMM Following the guide as-is, I end up suffering with the error: OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting overrides for System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi Using reloc block: yes, hibernate wake: no +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This occurs every time. I've tried different USB ports, doesn't matter. Replacing 'OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi' with 'OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi' , with 10 (re)boots (multiple usb ports), I get a mix of: OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting overrides for System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi Using reloc block: yes, hibernate wake: no +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting overrides for System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi Using reloc block: yes, hibernate wake: no Error allocating 0x#### pages at 0x####... alloc type 2 Error loading kernel cache (0x9) Boot failed, sleeping for 10 seconds before exiting... OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting overrides for System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi Using reloc block: yes, hibernate wake: no Error allocating 0x#### pages at 0x####... alloc type 2 Could not allocate runtime area Boot failed, sleeping for 10 seconds before exiting... Finally, replacing 'OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi' with 'OsxLowMemFixDrv-64.efi', I simply get: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ One thing I see as soon as Clover loads is a circle/icon on the left that says 'Not detected', yet I'm not sure exactly what is not being detected. In an attempt to provide as much information as possible, I've attached the cpuinfo, lspci, and dmesg output of my laptop (undocked, Fedora 23) to give an accurate reading of the hardware. Please send help... Thank you. Edit: I'm using Clover v2.3k_r3354 I've attached my EFI folder as well. The only modification made to 'config.plist' was adding in '-v' to the boot args Clover v2.3k_r3354 cpuinfo.txt dmesg.txt lspci_vv.txt EFI.zip
  3. First of all here are my system specs: Dell Latitude e6420 Intel Core i7 2720QM 16 GB RAM NVS 4200m I had mavericks installed with everything working using chameleon, the dsdt from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/342-latitude-e6420-nvs-4200-dsdtaml/ kexts from here https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/6192-guide-mavericks-on-dell-latitude-e6420/ and an ssdt from here https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/5943-dell-latitude-e6520-e6420-with-optimus-enabled-mavericks/ I had to switch to clover to do the upgrade, and it installed fine. The issue is that now it kernel panics when I try to boot it. Here is a picture I managed to grab before it turned off: Does anyone know what is wrong?
  4. Hello! I have installed El Capitan in my E6420 following Jake Lo's "Dell Latitude / Inspiron El Capitan Clover Guide". (used E6220 bootpack). I still have to fine-tune installation but I have one doubt regarding Clover boot: Why I can only boot legacy? Even enabling UEFI in BIOS I can´t see UEFI boot entry after pressing F12.... My plans are to dual boot Windows 10, so partition must be GPT pure... Thx
  5. Thanks to the guidance of some amazing forum members to the thread below, I was able to get El Capitan installed on my Latitude E5530. Link: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8592-solved-dell-latitude-e5530-el-capitan-success/ One thing I discovered is that the integrated webcam isn't recognized. Has anyone had success in getting this to work? When I had Yosemite on this same unit previously, the webcam was immediately available post-install. Any tips or tricks that worked for you for this?
  6. First off, thanks for providing this amazing resource ladies and gentlemen. It's much appreciated! I'm a long time Linux user and am taking my first step into installing OS X onto older hardware. I've run into some difficulty and am hoping for some pointers. I have a Dell E6420, A21 BIOS, i5-2540M CPU, 4GB RAM, Intel HD3000 graphics, 1600x900 Resolution, 250GB SSD. I followed the wonderful instructions in the following post using the E6220 boot pack: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8506-dell-latitude-inspiron-el-capitan-clover-guide/ However, I get stuck at one of two places: 1) With the stock + E6220 boot pack I get a kernel panic with message "pmLock: waited too long". 2) If I add NullCPUPM kext then I get a black screen that slowly turns all white. I did try to add DualLink into the Clover config. I've been trying different things from the forums, but with less success. I still have yet to see an installer screen. I do appreciate whatever time you can spare to help me get up to speed. I apologize If I'm missing something obvious, but this is all pretty new to me.
  7. Hello All. Thanks to the Shared Knowledge I have manage to Installed El Capitan on my E5450 using Clover with the bootpack posted on previous. post https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8180-yosemite-on-e5450/page-3 I am still having issues with Graphics and Network: Graphics Issue: graphics are flickering like when it runs on save mode. I notice the following message on verbose mode: [iGPU] Graphics Driver failed to load could register with FrameBuffer. I guess Graphics driver is not loading when booting. Network Issue: Intel Wifi will have to be replaced but I notice that the wifi card it is smaller card than the BCM that I used for my M4600. Do you know which card should I buy? Ethernet is not being recognized at all I have attached my Original ACPI Files using F4 on Clover for possible patching help. Any Help is much appreciated... Happy Holidays to all. 8. I've a DELL Latitude E5530 with the specifications below : Processor Intel® Core i5-3340M CPU @ 2.70GHz Video Card Intel® HD Graphics 4000 * Memory 8.1 GB I just need to know if I can install an OSX Yosemite or El Capitan without any problems, also if there's any tutorials about that, I'm new to this forum I wishing to find some help, because I'm getting sick of Windows and I don't have much money to buy a Macbook with the same specifications. Thanks to every one
  9. Just curious if any of the senior forum members have made a run at installing El Capitan on a Latitude E5530, and what the outcome had been. Did you try a clean install, or an upgrade to an existing working Yosemite instance?
  10. Has any one successfully installed El Capitan on a T410 or T410s? Any suggestions on how it might be done? Thank you, Chris

    D630 - El Capitan

Hi all, I managed to have a Dell D630 nvidia working perfectly so far (it's new, so maybe some surprises ahead...). The only small thing I would like to fix is the power button that doesn't put the computer to sleep. The button is seen by Os X ! if I press Ctrl + Power Button, the restart-sleep-shutdown-disalog appears. Here's my ACPI ? Device (PWRB) { Name (_HID, EisaId ("PNP0C0C")) Name (_PRW, Package (0x02) { 0x17, 0x04 }) Method (_PSW, 1, NotSerialized) { PSW (Arg0, One) } } I tried to change _HID to _CID as I found on forums, but when I do that, the button doesn't wake the computer anymore. Thanks, Jief
  12. I am unable to boot any version of OS X yosemite(10.10, 10.10.1,...) on my latitude e6410. I have tried both Chameleon and Clover and receive ACPI kernel panics. This is also affecting my El Capitan usb installer too. Here are some steps I have tried to resolve this issue and they have failed: Reset BIOS, Disable VT for Direct IO, Set HDD mode to AHCI. Change Bootloaders from Chameleon to Clover Place AppleACPIPlatform Kext inside Clover kext directory. Have removed AppleACPIPlatform from S/L/E Strangely this does not affect any distro's I have tried from booting into the installerl, but I would like to install using Patel's guide because the end result is much better than a distro. My system specs are: Dell Latitude E6410 i5-560M NVS 3100M 465GB HDD 6GB RAM BIOS A16 Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
  13. I installed the El Capitan on a Dell N5010 with Clover. The problem is that I have a low resolution (also runs very laggy) and the video memory shows only 3mb. Some says that with Clover bootloader you can achieve QE/CI on the Mobility Radeon by setting "LoadVBios=Yes" but seems that didn't do trick. Is there anyway to fix this problem ? Card Name : ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (1 GB RAM)
  14. Here it goes. I upgraded Yosemite to El Capitan GM. I replaced EHCI with EHC1 in DSDT.aml as I read, but still no USB. Any thoughts?
  15. Hello dear Latitude D830 owners ! UPDATED FOR El Capitan Final Release : WORKS 100% ! UPDATED FOR macOS Sierra 10.12 Developer Preview ! See post #9 For those who tried to install 10.11 DP1, you may have problem booting your USB stick on your system and actually end up with a "still waiting for root device" error. After some research, I finally managed to successfully boot and install El Capitan on it by patching the DSDT from original bootpack for D830 Nvidia series. The patch is quite simple and you'll just need to edit your DSDT and apply PJAlms "Basic Apple Device Renames" available here. (just follow instructions). Basically, it will change this : Device (USB2) { Name (_ADR, 0x001D0001) // _ADR: Address Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) // _PRW: Power Resources for Wake to this : Device (UHC3) { Name (_ADR, 0x001D0001) // _ADR: Address Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) // _PRW: Power Resources for Wake Also, you must change device (ECHI) to device (EHC1). Actually, this the most important edit. Renaming USBx to UHCx doesn't really matters. However on my system, I still have 1 of the 3 ports that isn't working at all (they all works fine on Yosemite). It could be related to some errors in the proposed DSDT so if you see any, please report ! Fixed ! see below. Sleep/wake don't work on the other hand . Forgot to set Hibernate mode to 0 : sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 [EDIT] Thanks to Pokenguyen, stinga111 & VCH888, there's a guide to fix all USB related issues. However, DSDT edits may still be usefull. [EDIT 2] Attached is customized DummyUSBEHCIPCI.kext thanks to the mentioned Guide above and updated DSDT. Also : I found out that using a MacBookPro3,1 SMBios eliminates the need of using any extra kext since all ports are already configured for use with D830 hardware : - 6 PRT in EHC1 and 4 PRT in EHC2 in OS X 10.11 IOUSBHostFamily.kext vanilla kext. So it's up to you. Note that DSDT editing from ECHI to EHC1 is still mandatory in every case. You can use the attached DSDT, it's already patched and works fine whith both Clover and Chameleon. Works with Dell Latitude D830 Nvidia QUADRO NVS 135M & Nvidia QUADRO NVS 140M Note : Files removed. Complete new set in post #9
  16. hello rufabf, regarding your guide, can you send your dsdt
